Legislative Advisory Committee
The MSCA Legislative Advisory Committee works closely with the MSCA lobbyist to review potential legislative items of interest to school counseling.

Committee Goals
Provide timely legislative and policy intelligence in coordination with the MSCA lobbyist, ensuring members receive clear, actionable updates through channels such as the Monday Memo. (Collaborate with Publications & Papers Committee to package and distribute briefs, memos, and summaries)
Increase participation in Legislative Advocacy Day by at least 50% by the 2026–2027 school year, working with the lobbyist to prepare members for effective engagement with policymakers.
Deliver leadership and advocacy training that empowers members to influence policy change, developed jointly with the Professional Development Committee and informed by the lobbyist’s expertise and insights.
Elevate public attention to counseling-related legislation by coordinating with the lobbyist to issue targeted alerts, legislative summaries, and calls to action. (Collaborate with Publications & Papers Committee for public-facing materials)
